New Christmas Banners Up

Our new Christmas banners are up at PaidOnResults.

With the postal dispute still unresolved and delivery concerns still very much at the forefront of customer’s minds, we’ve opted to promote the fact that our next day deliveries are not subject to Royal Mail industrial action. Strike or no strike, we can still deliver, next day!

Pressies4princesses is in a very strong position regarding delivery. We have outsourced fulfilment to a dedicated facility run by a separate business, who mail on behalf of several other gift and gadget retailers, as well as the broadband ISPs. As such, their individual customers (like us) benefit from their collective bargaining power. Power that sees our mail collected by Royal Mail even during the strikes!

As Christmas approaches and parcel volumes skyrocket, couriers are going to find it more and more difficult to take up the slack provided by Royal Mail strike days. They might even have to start saying “no” to customers. And, let’s face it, they’re going to be letting down the smaller customers first. That’s business!

Indeed, some couriers are already turning away new business. In this situation, being part of a big customer (as we are) is a very good place to be. We’re much less likely to find ourselves unable to deliver than if we a individual contract direct with the carrier. And, that’s why we can make our claims with confidence.

The banner campaign is supported by an automatic discount on the store. This slashes the cost of next day and on specific day (yes we do that too) services for customers spending £35 or more on stocked gifts. Next Day delivery at £2.97 is an absolute steal and hard to beat anywhere on the web!

Next day isn’t always convenient — you have to be there to sign. Which is why we discounted On Specific Day too. You can get your gifts delivered on the day you choose from only £2.97 too! Again, this is an automatic discount.

So long as the industrial action persists, affiliates should make hay with pressies4princesses and drive home the benefits of shopping with us.

Gift Delivery Costs Cut

Filed under: customer incentives, news — Tags: , — admin @ 9:30 pm

We’ve cut the cost of delivery for the vast majority of gift customers. In fact, we’ve halved the cost of delivery for them.

Delivery charges can have a major impact on converting browsers to customers. Web shoppers have an almost irrational aversion to them. Research shows that, even when the prices of products represent exceptional value for money, a higher than anticipated delivery (unreasonable in the customer’s opinion) can kill a sale.

Even seemingly quite modest charges (compared with the cost of the goods) can be off-putting for web shoppers. They don’t need to be outlandish to drive shoppers elsewhere. Many online shoppers resent fundamentally paying for delivery.

With this in mind, we ran the numbers on our own delivery charges and have arrived at a better formula. One that means lower delivery costs for the vast majority of baskets.

Customers spending more than £15 on gifts will qualify for half price delivery. Meaning that UK Standard Delivery for most of our gifts and nearly all orders is now £1.97. Customers spending less than £15 will actually pay £1 more, £3.95. This increase ensures we receive adequate contribution to our pick, pack and despatch costs for these largely unprofitable orders.

We anticipate two positive contributions to gift sales:

  1. Less inertia during checkout, because the delivery charge doesn’t stop and make them think “can I do better elsewhere?”.
  2. Increased impetus to checkout their order promptly, because the reduction shows as a limited time offer.

This should result in more conversions for affiliates and more sales for us.

As usual, we will be monitoring the situation closely and testing numerous amendments to the store to ensure customers get the message.

Any feedback, suggestions or advice from affiliates would be greatly received. We’re here to listen as well as talk.

Cheers,

Steve
